School body calls bandh on February 25

English Schools Association (IESA), a body comprising unaided schools across Maharashtra, has called for a one-day bandh on February 25 to protest the failure of the state government to fulfil its demands.


Addressing a news conference here on Wednesday, IESA members stated that government departments and officials were informed about their demands through a letter and since there has been no response from the government, the association has called for a one-day bandh.

IESA executive president Rajendra Singh, who addressed the news conference, said five associations in the state and in 21 districts have supported the bandh call. “As many as 4,439 schools from the state will remain closed, while 140 schools will remain closed in Pune. In

Chinchwad, a total of 82 schools will remain closed.”

The association has submitted a list of demands, mainly related to admission conducted under the 25% quota of the Right to Education Act.
