Sabnis literary meet president

PIMPRI CHINCHWAD: Litterateur Shripal Sabnis has been elected as president of the 89th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan to be held in Pimpri next year.
The D Y Patil University is hosting the Marathi literary conference to be held in January.
Sabnis was among the five candidates for the post. He received 485 votes, while senior poet Vitthal Wagh received 373 votes. Election officer Pramod Adkar announced the results. Sahitya Mahamandal president Madhavi Vaidya, Prakash Paigude, Sunil Mahajan, P D Patil and Lalita Sabnis were present on the occasion. tnn
Sabnis had withdrawn his candidature in support of outgoing president Sadanand More last year.
Treasurer of the Sahitya Mahamandal Sunil Mahajan said there were 1,075 eligible voters for this election, of which 1,033 cast their votes in the past two months. Counting of votes was conducted at the Marathi Sahitya Parishad.
