PUNE: Prompt action by the Pune rural police helped in the rescue of an eight-year-old boy from five men who had allegedly kidnapped him for ransom from Talegaon Dabhade in the wee hours of Saturday. Two suspects were nabbed by the police near Ghotawade village, near Pirangut, after a hot chase.
A massive manhunt launched by the police later led to the arrest of the remaining three suspects.
The police reunited the victim, Om, with his parents Anand and Devi Rawal after completion of legal formalities. ���I can���t express my joy. I got my son back because of the timely action by the police,��� a visibly relieved Rawal told TOI.
Rawal is a wholesale merchant, while Om a student of Saint Mount school in Talegaon Dabhade, the police said. The suspects have been identified as Datta Sudam Kamble (20) of Talegaon Dabhade (originally from Solapur), Sachin Sham Patel (20) and Wasim Tajuddin Pirzade (22) of Bhosari; Kailas Dnyaneshwar Kavthkar (24) of Talegaon Dabhade and Vinod Pandit Chavan (23) of CRPF camp, near Talegaon. The Talegaon Dabhade police have booked the suspects for kidnapping, demanding ransom and dacoity, following a complaint by Rawal.
