Pune: The pending works like tarring, installation of barricades and pothole repairs on the Karve Road stretch, along the

Nal Stop

flyover, are expected to get over in the next two weeks to ensure safer travel for commuters.
The Nal Stop flyover was thrown open for vehicles on Sunday, eliminating a halt for motorists at the Nal Stop chowk.

Alok Rane

, a regular traveller, said the flyover has certainly reduced travel time, but the road beneath the flyover has to be repaired at the earliest for the safety of commuters.
“The cement barricading work is still incomplete on both the sides of the road. Besides, the potholes have not been repaired on the stretch. The road is uneven at some spots and it looks that tarring has been done on the segment in haste. The authorities must ensure that it should last for longer period,” he said.

Kothrud

resident Akshay Joshi said while resurfacing the road, the authorities must repair or replace the old lids of drainage or storm water lines. “The illegal parking below the flyover should be stopped too,” he said.
MahaMetro and

PMC

road department officials said while the road works would be finished at the earliest, the restoration of footpaths would take some time.
“We are assisting the civic body in completing the remaining works on Karve Road. Some final touches are still underway. After that the construction of cement-concrete barricading will get over. We will also remove the machinery placed on the flyover after the completion of the pending works,” a MahaMetro official said.
