In an event, the members claimed that the decision would not only affect the industries but also the residents.

Speaking to TOI, the chairman of the association,

Pramod Dabir

, said that this is the fourth garbage

depot

in the area. “There are already three garbage treatment plants in the vicinity. We will oppose the new project,” he said.

“Various residential properties are located within 1 km of the proposed depot. Wind flowing from the west will spread the stench in the entire area,” Dabir added.

Nearly 85 members of the association as well as the local corporator, Anand Alkunte, participated in the event. Earlier, Pune’s guardian minister, Girish Bapat, had visited the site to announce the commencement of the project.
