Pune: NCCS holds open day to mark Science Day event
PUNE: The National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS) at Pune, organized an open day on the occasion of the National Science Day recently.
Chief guest , Nitin Karmaklar, the vice chancellor of the Savitribai Phule Pune University, inaugurated the National Science Day at the NCCS.
On this occasion, Karmaklar released 'Cellular Insights', a documentary made to commemorate 30 successful years of NCCS. Nandan Kudhyadi, the award-winning film maker who directed 'Cellular Insights', spoke about his experiences with making this documentary.

The director of NCCS, Gopal Kundu, welcomed the guests and gave an overview of the activities of NCCS. ‘Cellular Insights’ was also broadcast by the Rajya Sabha TV, and premiered on India Science, the Internet-based TV of Vigyan Prasar, DST, on the occasion of the National Science Day.
Hundreds of visitors of all age groups and from diverse backgrounds visited the laboratories & displays at NCCS throughout the day. This gave them an opportunity to explore the fascinating world of biology & learn about the high-end technology used in cutting-edge research.
Meanwhile, the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) in the city also celebrated the the National Science Day, when an open day for the general public, students and the media was organised at the institute premises during 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
