PUNE: City-based eminent urologist Dr Sanjay Kulkarni was elected as the president of the Urological Society of India (USI) - a pan-India body of 5,000 urologists formed in 1960 - at a conference in New Delhi on February 5.

"It is indeed an honour to head such a prestigious society of urologists. Indian urologists are world leaders in kidney stone, urethral stricture, and robotic surgeries.

My aim is to make India a learning hub," said Dr Kulkarni, who is also the founder-director of Urokul - a dedicated urology hospital in Pune. Dr Kulkarni is the third person from Pune to get elected as the society's president, after Dr S S Bapat and Dr Dipak Kirpekar.
