PUNE: The residents of Kalyaninagar are dealing with a problem where bungalow owners, commercial establishments, and societies are blocking public parking spaces outside their premises by putting up red traffic cones.
Other residents have complained to the traffic department regarding the cones being placed and how it prevents them from parking in the space along the footpath.
The Kalyaninagar residents in their complaint to the traffic police said that the area was already battling parking issues and the cones blocking empty spaces were adding to the woes of the residents.
Member of Team Swachh Kalyaninagar Jaffer Iqbal, who took to social media by posting a photograph of cones put up outside a private property on Central Avenue in Kalyani Nagar to report the incident, found an immediate response from the traffic department team in the area.
Iqbal said, "The cones placed on roads by the property owner just to avoid anyone parking in front of the premises is incorrect. We are already short of parking spaces in the area. If every society or private bungalow does the same where will we park our vehicles?"
After a complaint on 'Twitter' by Iqbal, the traffic division came within an hour and action was taken by the police officer Amol Mundhe, he said.
