PUNE: Aruna Gulunjkar, the principal of PDEA's English Medium Primary School, was awarded the 'Adarsh Shikshak Puraskar' by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
The felicitation ceremony was held at the Balgandharva Rangmandir on the occasion of Teachers' Day. The award was presented by educator Anant Deshmukh and deputy director of the regional education office Meenakshi Raut.
Gulunjkar said, "I always try to give my best to my students.
They are my motivators. I want to do a lot for them. I feel proud to have been recognized for the work."
Mukund Singh Negi, physical education teacher of St. Francis De Sales School, Shaanwadi, was also conferred with the award for his contribution towards physical education and sports training for the past 25 years.
The awards were conferred in the presence of mayor Mukta Tilak to recognise the unique contribution of teachers in the field of education. It honoured teachers who have improved the quality of school education and enriched the lives of their students.
Dheeraj bags laurels in Karate ChampionshipRishva Patel and Krishna Chand of Class III from Dheeraj International School bagged a silver medal each in the National Level Karate Championship organized by the Karate Association of India in Rajkot, Gujarat recently.
Patel (under 25kg) and Chand (under 20kg) won in the "Kata and Kumite" and "Kumite" categories respectively. Sports instructor Sainath Malkekar, principal Shubhra Mukherjee and trustee Pradeep Karnavat congrajulated them.
D.E.S hosts 10th edition of Tejomay D.E.S Secondary school recently hosted the 10th edition of Tejomay - an inter-school event that includes a multitude of competitions for students from Class VIII to X.
The event was inaugurated by Mahesh Athavale, vice chairman of Deccan Education society and council's governing body.
Six teams competed in the final round of the quiz competition. Symbiosis School comprising Srisha Rewatkar, Chinmay Kale and Aryan Parikh bagged the first prize. Hrishikesh Walvekar, Rohan Kulkarni and Madhur Vaidya from SPM English School won the second prize.
The inter-school group discussion and t-shirt painting competitions were held on the second day with the participation of students from 11 schools. Srisha Rewatkar from Symbiosis School bagged the first prize. The runner-up prizes were bagged by Devashree Moghe and Ananya Annachatre of D.E.S.
The jury members for the competition were author and educator Ganeshan, professor at Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth Shibu Nair and ex-director of the Jagannath Rathi Vocational Guidance and Training Institute Uday Limaye.
About 23 students from different schools participate in the t-shirt painting competition. Shreya Joshi from D.E.S bagged the first prize, while the first runner-up and second runner-up prizes were bagged by Ravee Uttekar from Symbiosis School and Samruddhi Kanade from Jnana Prabodhini School respectively.
