PUNE: An unbeaten 50 by middle-order batsman
Kedar Jadhav of Pune helped Delhi Daredevils script a 17-run win over Anil Kumble led Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Thursday. Jadhav thus became the second player from Pune, after Yogesh Takawale, to play in the
IPL.
Jadhav, who will celebrate his 25th birthday on Friday, was also declared Man of the Match.
With Pune getting an IPL team just a few days ago, thanks to Sahara, the regional pride couldn't have swelled bigger.
The Deccan Gymkhana lad got into the side in place of Yogesh Nagar and grabbed the opportunity with both hands against RCB. In the process, he also bettered Takawale's ‘Pune's highest (27)' in the IPL.
Jadhav took the crease after the fall of Delhi skipper Dinesh Karthik (17) with the score 101-3 in the 12th over.
He constructed a 49-run partnerhsip with Andrew McDonald for the fifth wicket. His willow put the much-dreaded Bangalore bowling attack led by paceman Dale Steyn to the sword. Jadhav's 29-ball knock included two sixes and five boundaries. In the other IPL match, Mumbai Indians beat Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets at the Brabourne stadium in Mumbai on Thursday.
