Pune: The police investigation in the February 3 night accident at the under-construction Blue Grass Business Park site at Shastrinagar remains standstill in the absence of fixing of responsibility by experts.
“We are waiting for the final report of the technical committee that will fix the responsibility of each and everyone responsible for the accident”, said deputy commissioner of police (Zone IV) Rohidas Pawar.
“We are not experts. We will act according to the report prepared by the committee. As of now, the investigation in the case is at a standstill,” Pawar said.
“We had requested authorities of College of Engineering, Pune (CoEP) to carry out a study of the site and ascertain the cause behind the accident. A team of CoEP experts visited the accident on Monday and Tuesday. But due to the clogging of water at the site, they did not carry out the inspection,” he said.
A case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and other charges has been registered against the developers and contractors and others linked with the construction activity. The police had arrested safety engineer Imtiaz Abul Barkat Ansari (38), site superviser Mohammed Sharif Habibul Rehman Alam (35), site engineer Vijay Eknath Dhaktonde (25) and site manager Majid Alisa Khan (45) in the case.
The police said they were present at the site and prima facie responsible for the accident. “They are now in magisterial custody,” Pawar said.
