PUNE: Police inspector (PI) Rajendra Bhamare of the Loni-Kalbhor police station suffered injuries when he accidentally fired his service revolver on Sunday night.
The police said Bhamare took charge at the police station on Saturday and was going on a night round when his jeep got stuck in a ditch. While he was trying to remove the vehicle, the revolver fell down.
The PI picked it up and accidentally pressed the trigger, following which a bullet pierced his arm. Bhamare has been admitted to a hospital in Pune, where the bullet was removed.
Six held for attack: The Bund Garden police on Sunday night arrested six men for allegedly injuring five men in a clash over a previous feud. According to the police, the clash broke out during a marriage procession on Tadiwala road.
Nitin Kamble (24) has said in his complaint that he was beaten up by the six men when he went to their residence to get some points cleared. Kamble said two of his friends, Sham Gaikwad and Ganesh Kamble, were injured when the accused fired from a gun. Three others suffered injuries after they were attacked with swords. The accused have been identified as Sachin Kamble (24), Nitin Kamble (20), Haridas Kamble (54), Vishnu Kamble (34), Chhaya Kamble (38) and Rajusingh Rajput (18), all residents of Tadiwala road.
College peon assaulted: Four people have been booked by the Vishrambaug police for allegedly assaulting a peon from Garware college on Friday night. Following a tiff earlier in Garware college, the accused called Kalidas Kadag (25) of Shukrawar Peth to SP college and attacked him and his friends with swords. The accused have been identified as Raymond Clich, Vijay Bale, Manoj Pandit and Sachin Jamghe.
Man critical after electric shock: Jalinder Chabukswar (18) of Balajinagar slums, Bhosari, suffered burns following an electric shock on Monday. The police said Chabukswar had climbed a tree in the area when he came into contact with an electric pole nearby. He has been admitted to the Yashwantrao Chavan memorial hospital, where his condition was stated to be critical.
Cyclist killed in mishap: Nandkumar Kolhe (48) of Warje-Malwadi was killed after his bicycle was knocked down by a PMT bus on Shastri road, near Alka theatre, on Sunday. The Vishrambaug police said the bus was going from Katraj to Bhosari when the mishap happened. The driver, Dilip Bhandare (34) of Katraj, has been arrested.
