After his release from a jail in Madhya Pradesh a year ago,

(30) had shifted base to Loni Kalbhor. There, he stole the vehicles — a car and five motorcycles — and abandoned them after snatching the gold chain and committing a series of burglaries.

The police arrested Khan on November 5. “We were investigating a chain-snatching case, when we came across an eyewitness who gave us a description of Khan,” sub-inspector

Mangesh Bhange

said.

His interrogation established his involvement in other cases — seven in Hadapsar and one each in the limits of Airport, Lonikand and Shirur police stations. Stolen loot of Rs8.5 lakhs was recovered from him.
