Pune: A constable attached to the district rural police was arrested on Tuesday on the charge of outraging modesty of a girl (10) when she was returning home in the afternoon after attending a private coaching class.
The girl’s parents lodged a complaint with the Narayangaon police. Sub-inspector Vinod Dhurve of the Narayangaon police said the 38-year-old constable had been charged under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to the complainant, the constable followed the girl when she was returning home and stopped her.

He offered her Rs 100 and forced her to sit on his motorcycle. “The complainant said when the girl refused, the police constable outraged her modesty and drove away,” the officer said.
He said the girl went home and informed her grandmother about the incident. “Her parents immediately approached the police,” Dhurve said.
He said the constable was taken into custody after checking CCTV footage of the area.
An officer from the Pune rural police said, “A departmental action has been initiated against the constable.”
