Police constable held under POCSO Act

Pune: A constable attached to the district rural police was arrested on Tuesday on the charge of outraging modesty of a girl (10) when she was returning home in the afternoon after attending a private coaching class.The girl’s parents lodged a complaint with the Narayangaon police. Sub-inspector Vinod Dhurve of the Narayangaon police said the 38-year-old constable had been charged under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.According to the complainant, the constable followed the girl when she was returning home and stopped her. He offered her Rs 100 and forced her to sit on his motorcycle. “The complainant said when the girl refused, the police constable outraged her modesty and drove away,” the officer said.He said the girl went home and informed her grandmother about the incident. “Her parents immediately approached the police,” Dhurve said.He said the constable was taken into custody after checking CCTV footage of the area.An officer from the Pune rural police said, “A departmental action has been initiated against the constable.”

Two years after Delhi Police ex-constable went missing, three arrested for her murder

Three men have been arrested in Delhi for allegedly killing a former woman constable and deceiving her family into believing she was alive. The prime accused, Surender Singh, had an extra-marital affair with the woman and killed her after she refused to comply with his demands. Singh's brother-in-law and another accomplice helped him in hiding the crime. The police recovered skeletal remains believed to be the victim's and have booked the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Repeated calls from a number led police to constable's killer

Four months after the disappearance of Delhi Police constable Monika Yadav, her family received calls from a man claiming to be her husband. The calls were not initially investigated by the police. However, after several twists and turns, the police traced the calls to constable Surender Singh Rana. Rana confessed to murdering Yadav, stating that she had threatened to expose their affair. He initially refused to disclose the location of the body, but eventually revealed that he had dumped it in a drain.
