Pune: A software engineer was booked on Sunday by the Hinjewadi police on the charge of abetting his 28-year-old wife’s suicide.
Early on Friday morning, the woman had jumped from the balcony of their house situated on the sixth floor of a housing society in Maan village. A complaint against the suspect has been lodged by the woman’s father.
An officer from the Hinjewadi police station said the complainant, in the FIR, has stated that his daughter was a teacher. “The woman’s husband, however, was not allowing her to work. The complainant also stated that even when his daughter was in service, her husband used to force her to do household chores,” the officer said.
The complainant informed the police his daughter was forced to leave her job and since then she was upset. “In the early hours of Friday she jumped from the balcony. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead by the doctors,” the officer added.
