Police arrest 10, crack 15 burglaries

PUNE: The Pimpri police arrested a 10-member gang and cracked 15 burglaries. The police have also recovered stolen gold and silver ornaments, valuables, three vehicles, two firearms and three rounds, totally worth Rs 14 lakh.
The arrests were made between May 9 and May 31 by a police team under the supervision of senior inspector Shridhar Jadhav, assistant commissioner of police Satish Patil and deputy commissioner of police (Zone III) Ganesh Shinde.
Surjitsingh Tak of Hadapsar was the first suspect to be arrested on May 9. Three of his accomplices were also booked for their involvement in seven burglaries — five in Pimpri and one each in MIDC Bhosari and Hadapsar — this year.
This was followed by the arrests of Harshal Gulab Pawar from Mulshi (May 20) for three burglaries in Pimpri; Samuel Arnold, Atul Pawar and Sagar Indra (May 24), from whom cops recovered a stolen car, a countrymade pistol, one round, a sickle and a knife, totally worth Rs 3.5 lakh; Mahesh Dikse (May 28) for stealing an iPhone worth Rs 89,000; Rahul Kale (May 28), from whom the police seized a countrymade pistol and two live rounds worth Rs 51,000; Akshay Kolekar (May 30) for stealing 20 smartphones worth Rs 2.1 lakh and Shubham Kalbhor (May 31) for the theft of two smartphones worth Rs16,000.
