PMC Care revamped to boost citizen engagement

Pune: The Pune Smart City Mission on Wednesday revamped the PMC Care portal in an attempt to enhance citizen engagement.
In addition to raising complaints and paying tax online, the new version of the portal features blogs, allows one to purchase tickets for events happening in the city and for the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to conduct surveys.
Smart City Mission CEO Sanjay Kolte told TOI that the revamped app was launched on Wednesday.
“Citizens can also hold discussions on the platform’s forum to better facilitate communication between neighbourhoods,” Kolte said. Rahul Jagtap, the head of the PMC’s IT department, said, “Almost 4,000 people have downloaded the app since the new version was launched.” A little over Rs7 crore has been allotted for the revamp.
Citizen activist, Maithili Manakawad said, “Unless the PMC officials are going to read what the citizens have written, there is no use. This is just another way to use more funds, without providing anything concrete,” she said.
