Pune: The crime branch of the Pune police claimed to have solved eight pickpocketing cases after the arrest of a man from Bibvewadi on Friday.
The police have also recovered Rs 1.18 lakh from him. The suspect has been identified as Raju Narayan Jadhav (24) of Rajiv Gandhinagar in Bibvewadi. The police said Jadhav used to target PMPML passengers and had stolen the wallet of a judge travelling by a bus in Swargate.
A team headed by assistant commissioner of police (crime) Suresh Bhosale, inspector Sitaram More and constable Anil Ghadage arrested Jadhav following a tip-off.
“He would dump the stolen cash at his Bibvewadi residence,” More said. During interrogation, Jadhav revealed his involvement in eight pickpocketing cases registered in various police stations in the city.
More added Jadhav’s wife left him few months back after learning about his crimes.
