The hospital authorities invited all physicians, cardiologists and other medical professionals in Pune to attend this symposium to mark the event.
Sunil Agarwal, director, Oyester and Pearl Cath Lab, said that, "This cardiac shock wave therapy (CSWT) will be a new and unique way of treating heart disease. It is non invasive and has no side effects and will complement the interventional modalities of treatment offered at the cath lab."
The statement added, currently, most patients with cardiac failure secondary to coronary artery disease are treated by oral medications, angioplasty, stent placement and bypass surgery. However, nationally there is a very large pool of patients who have small sized diffuse coronary arteries often seen in diabetics, which are not treatable by traditional methods.
The hospital will organize monthly lectures and seminars for medical professionals on medical advances in different specialities, where speakers of national and international repute will address the audience, the statement said.
