PUNE: The Pimpri police on Tuesday arrested Deepak Ramesh Kashyap, a resident of Sukhwani Buildings in Pimpri, in connection with the deaths of Vijay Pujari, his wife and children.
Kashyap had allegedly duped Pujari of Rs 23.50 lakh. Pujari is alleged to have killed his wife and two children before committing suicide on Sunday.
A suicide note recovered from Pujari���s flat revealed that he had given Rs 23.50 lakh to Kashyap in February this year.
Kashyap had assured that he would return the money within two months, but had failed to do so. Kashyap has been now booked under section 306 of the IPC for abetment of suicide.
Pujari (50) was found dead along with his family in his flat at Victory Apartments in Pimpri Camp. Pujari strangulated to death his wife Sugandha (40), daughter Prerna (18) and son Pratik (10). The suicide note in Marathi said that Kashyap was responsible for the deaths.
According to senior inspector Sharad Surve of Pimpri police station, Pujari and Kashyap knew each other since 1996. They had decided to start a construction business and had bought a piece of land in Rahatni. They were also negotiating with another land owner to buy a plot of 13 gunthas also in Rahatni.
