PUNE: In another setback to multinational giant Coke, a city-based hotel has registered a complaint with the police, claiming that an electric copper wire was found in a sealed 300-ml bottle of Coca-Cola.
Proprietor of Hotel Raviraj, Ravi Joshi, told TNN on Tuesday that while they were unable to contact the company authorities they have already registered a normal complaint with the Prabhat Road police station.

Another complaint would be lodged with the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) office on Wednesday, he added. Joshi said the bottle with the copper wire was first discovered by pantryman Krishna Ratate while he was arranging the bottles in a refrigerator.
Details on the bottle indicated that the 300-ml Coca-Cola bottle was packed at Coca-Cola India’s Pirangut Bottling Plant at 15.05 hours on September 23, 2003.
However, the Coca-Cola plant authorities at Pirangut in Pune district rejected the charge.
The company’s Pirangut area general manager, M.V. Natarajan, told TNN from Mumbai, “We have one of the best packaging and bottling systems in the world. I will personally examine the bottle on Wednesday, he said.
