Road from Ambegaon Pathar to Katraj Chowk a nightmare
“I use this road regularly to drop my daughter to school. The entire patch from Ambegaon to Katraj is in poor shape. It is very difficult to drive a two-wheeler through this stretch due to heavy traffic. The poor condition of the road adds to the problem,” Geeta Dalvi, a resident of Narhe, said.
Shailesh Aradhye, a daily commuter, said, “Before the construction started for the flyover, the condition of the road was better. But now its condition has deteriorated in the last few months. The authorities should take necessary steps to avoid the hassles faced by commuters,” he said.
Katraj, Ambegaon, Narhe and Kondhwa are close to the national highway. So, the trucks and other heavy vehicles pass through these areas in large numbers. The volume of traffic increases at night, increasing the threat of accidents.
According to NHAI, removal and relaying of utility cables is a complicated issue. All this has been delaying repair work. Temporary road maintenance is done on a regular basis. But permanent repairs would be completed in around two months.
“We are coordinating with various authorities to speed up the construction work. A deadline has been set for March next year to complete the pending works,” Mahesh Patil, an official of the PWD department of NHAI, said.

CPCB to pay MCD for road construction, repair

The MCD had requested Rs 20.4 crore for 55 proposals to mitigate dust pollution. CPCB approved 18 road construction, repair, and paving works at an estimated cost of Rs 10.6 crore. The funds will be released in two installments, and the MCD is responsible for ensuring compliance with construction quality norms and using the funds only for the approved projects.
Repair Roads Immediately, Pollution Board Tells BMC & PWD
The implementation of measures to curb air pollution in Bhopal is in full swing as part of the National Clean Air Programme. A detailed study by ARAI Pune identified dust, vehicular emissions, and burning of garbage as the main sources of pollution. The BMC has deployed more sweeping machines and foggers to clear dust particles and reduce pollution. Strict actions will be taken against vehicles without pollution under control certificates. The district collector has urged petrol pump owners to provide free pollution under control facilities for vehicles with a full fuel tank. The administration is also focusing on reducing pollution caused by construction sites and following MOEF guidelines.
