PUNE: The National Institute of Bank Management (NIBM) has decided to bring in expert visiting faculty from leading international business schools to provide a global banking experience to its first batch of post-graduate programme in banking and finance (PGPBF) students.
The institute is talking to faculty members of Kellogg school of business, Stern school of business,New York University and College of business (COB), University of Illinois, at Urbana Champaign with the proposal of coming to NIBM as visiting faculty and conduct research relevant to the banking industry, Asish Saha, director of NIBM, told TNN.
They are expected to visit for a fortnight each in the third semester of this academic year, he said. “We want to provide high quality inputs with an international flair and make our course on par with the best in the world,� he added.
And bank-rolling this global vision of NIBM are group of banks and financial institutions which have come forward to sponsor professorial chairs at the institute.
These include the State Bank of India chair on information technology, Punjab National Bank chair on corporate governance, Bank of Baroda chair on risk management, Bank of Maharashtra chair on human resource management, Export-Import Bank of India chair on international banking and finance, and Union Bank of India chair on integrated treasury management.
Of the Rs 10 lakh per annum per chair that each of the six banks will finance for the next five years, around Rs 7 lakh would be used towards remuneration of the faculty and the rest for research, said Saha.
The institute plans to invite successful CEOs of various banks and financial institutions in the country for guest lectures and international student exchange.
