Pune: The National Film Archive of India (NFAI) and the Aashay Film Club will host screenings of films and other audio visual presentations to observe the birth centenary of composer and singer Sudhir Phadke, who also made a mark as a film producer.
The screenings would be held at NFAI’s Phase-II campus, off the Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT) College Road in Kothrud.
The programme — on July 25 and July 26 — is free for entry on a first-come-first-serve basis.
It will feature two full-length screenings. The film, “Jagachya Pathivar”, will be followed by a presentation on how Phadke managed to gather funds for the only feature film he ever produced and directed, about one of his icons — Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. The film “Veer Savarkar”, directed by Phadke himself, as well as Ved Rahi, will be screened on July 26.
