Established in 1940, the manufacturer has provided flags and other knick-knacks to various political parties and has been central to numerous movements in the past. Overjoyed by the good business this time of the year, Girish Murudkar, owner of Murudkar Zendewale, says, “Sa les have been really good so far.Our latest collection of flags and badges is almost sold out.We have specially designed tricolor-themed shawls and Puneri pagdis for the big day. These items are in good demand too.“ “From different customers come different demands, most of which concern flag sizes. Individuals generally carry the 2x3 feet flag, while schools and colleges order a slightly larger (3x4.5 feet) version of the pro duct. Government institutions demand for flags with dimesions as big as 6x9 feet. We also make manufacture carfriendly flags as these have emerged as a new trend in the city. All of our flags are made of Khadi,“ Murudkar adds.

and other parts of the city are also witnessing more footfall. Enthusiasts are getting tricolour tattoos made or incorporating the theme within different designs. While the old-school sel lers are sticking to the code, newbies in the market are trying to add an LED twist to the sought after tricolour. These flags are being designed using LED lights on the rectangular boundaries for a brighter finish.

“These things are mostly manufactured in China, and we do not stock them. Our products are all in-house and strictly made using khadi,“ Murudkar said.
