Nasrapur case: Court records testimony of five witnesses; DVR and physical evidence produced

Pune: The court of special judge S. R. Salunkhe, presiding over the Nasrapur rape and murder trial, recorded the depositions of five prosecution witnesses on Tuesday. As the prosecution continued leading evidence, several electronic and physical exhibits were formally brought on record.According to the court’s order sheet, the deposition of prosecution witness (PW) 14, which had remained pending since Monday, was concluded. The court also took on record documentation regarding witness summons and a letter concerning a seized digital video recorder (DVR), which was produced as an “article” (exhibit) in the case.During the proceedings, multiple sets of photographs and pen drives were presented to the court and marked as evidence. A packet containing stones wrapped in cloth was produced and formally recorded as a physical exhibit.By the end of the day’s proceedings, the court had recorded the depositions of four additional public witnesses. The examination-in-chief of prosecution witness 18 was completed, and the matter was deferred until Wednesday for cross-examination.The court order noted the production and marking of these articles and the recording of witness testimonies. However, the court clarified that the current recording of these items does not constitute a finding on their evidentiary value, authenticity, or reliability at this stage of the trial.
