Moledina student bags top prize in scrabble contest

PUNE: Mujawar Siddique from class X of the Moledina High School bagged the first prize in the inter-school scrabble competition organized by the Scrabble Association of India at Poonam Hotel in Deccan recently.
Siddique has also qualified for the national-level competition. He was presented with a trophy, certificate and a scrabble game by Ashok Bhandarkar, the coordinator from Mattel, which was the sponsor for the event.
About 100 students from 20 schools in Pune participated in the competition that was conducted in five levels.

Facilitators Azeem Pathan and Zia Shaikh trained the students for the competition.
Former chairman Mehmood Moledina, chairman Riyaz Omer, secretary S N Kotwal, principal Parveez Nida and supervisor Sameer Pathan congratulated Siddique for his success.
DSK bags School Merit Award for holistic development
DSK School ranked first among ICSE schools in the country for holistic development (parameter wise) according to a survey conducted by Education Today recently.
The school won the ‘India School Merit Award 2018’, which was received by the vice president Uma Panse and principal Sundari Jaishankar at an award ceremony held at The Chancery Pavilion, Bangalore, as part of Education Today’s 6th national conference on K-12 leadership.

Over 200 schools and 50 pre-schools in international boarding, CBSE, ICSE, State, Boys and Girls categories were selected out of over 1,615 survey forms.
The schools were categorized under 10 parameters including academic reputation, individual attention, infrastructure provision, innovative teaching, safety and hygiene, holistic development, among others. The awards were based on jury rating, parents’ votes and analysis by a team from Education Today.
Vijay Vallabh inaugurates Language lab
Acharya Shree Vijay Vallabh School recently set up the Chandra Prakash Language Lab, one of the largest in the city, in order to introduce students to the advantages of learning languages.
The lab was inagurated by chief guest Prakashji Dhoka, the chairman of the Deccan Chambers of Commerce and Industries, on the occasion of the school’s foundation day.
The language lab facilitates classroom engagement and interaction via computer-based exercises and activities to maximize language immersion. It is equipped with 60 computers. The aim of the lab is to help students master the skills of learning, speaking, reading as well as writing in English, German, Sanskrit, French, among others. It uses the Sanako software, a Finland-based technology that is acclaimed to be one of the best education systems.
Dhoka lauded the school for the initiative. Chairman Subhash Parmar reiterated that the language lab will help improve students’ core cognitive skills. He also announced that the lab will soon be made open to other students as well.
The dignitaries present at the event included joint charity commissioner Dilip Deshmukh, recipients of the President's award A L Deshmukh and K S Panse, the chairman of Shikshak Prasarak Mandal S K Jain, the chairman of Mahaveer Prashithan Vijaykanth Kothari, the chairman of Dadawadi trust Dilip Mehta, retd. high court judge Sudhakar Padhye and Sister Louis from Maher, a non-governmental organization.
