Marathi filmdom regains Shwaas

PUNE: Hopes of a revival of the golden era of Marathi cinema soared high on Saturday, with the highly-acclaimed Marathi film Shwaas (Breath) being adjudged the best feature film at the 51st National film awards 2003 on Saturday.

<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">PUNE: Hopes of a revival of the golden era of Marathi cinema soared high on Saturday, with the highly-acclaimed Marathi film <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Shwaas</span> (Breath) being adjudged the best feature film at the 51st National film awards 2003 on Saturday.<br /><br />Ashwin Chitale, who gave a soulful rendition of a child about to lose his eyesight in <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Shwaas</span>, shared the best child actor award with Kalidasan, for his role in Malayalam film, <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Ente Veedu Appoontem</span>.

The awards carry a cash prize Rs 5,000 and a Rajat Kamal.<br /><br />Co-produced by noted theatre-actor Arun Nalawade and featuring a sterling performance by Ashwin, <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Shwaas</span> has been creating waves among film buffs over the past few months.</div> </div>
