Man who brandished sword, aide arrested

Pune: The city crime branch officials on Thursday afternoon arrested Omkar Kudle and his accomplice Ashok Kajalkar from a spot located near Pavana dam.
Eight others were also detained for questioning.
A team led by deputy commissioner of police (crime) Amol Zende, assistant commissioner of police (crime) Satish Govekar and others arrested Kudle and Kajalkar after tracking down their movement to Pavana dam.
A case of attempt to murder has been registered against Kudle, who ran amok with a sword during celebrations of Annabhau Sathe’s birth anniversary around 8.15 pm on Tuesday at Shashtrinagar in Kothrud.
Kudle was angry over his photographs missing from posters and banners for the festivities and had created a ruckus. He had hit the loudspeaker with the sword. Kajalkar had helped him flee on a motorcycle. Residents of Shashtrinagar staged a protest on the police station premises late on Wednesday, demanding stern action.
