Man strangles pregnant wife, arrested

PUNE: Tailor Shafiq Chowdhary (34) of Bhawani Peth was arrested on Wednesday for strangling his pregnant wife, Noorjahan (28), on Tuesday.
Senior inspector Suresh Shinde of the Samarth police said, “The couple had fought when their three children were at school. Noorjahan was seven months pregnant.”
“In a fit of rage, Chowdhary strangled her with a dupatta.She fell unconscious. When neighbours came enquiring, he told them she had fainted. She was moved to the Sassoon hospital where she died later in the day. Post-mortem report revealed she was strangled to death,” Shinde said.
