NEW DELHI: The mystery surrounding the murder of a 40-year-old man in Latur has deepened after one of the accused, a woman, was found hanging from a tree under suspicious circumstances, police said on Monday.
The victim, Sharad Ingle, a supervisor at a gravel unit near Karkatta village, was attacked with sickles and other sharp weapons, with his throat slit by the assailants. He died on the spot, an official confirmed.
Following a complaint filed by Ingle's wife, police registered a case at Murud police station against five individuals. Investigators are probing whether an extramarital affair played a role in the fatal attack.
While authorities continued to investigate the suspects named in the FIR, one of the accused, a woman, was discovered hanging from a tree in a nearby forested area on Monday morning.
Police have registered a case under Section 103 (Punishment for Murder) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita against the accused. Due to the sensitivity of the case, officials have refrained from revealing further details as the probe continues.
