PIMPRI CHINCHWAD: Regular sighting of a leopard in Dive ghat section of Pune-Saswad Road has created panic among villagers in Wadki, around 25km from Pune city.

Sagar Ladkat, a local farmer, said, "The leopard was sighted near the second and fourth turn in Dive ghat section, on way towards Pune from Saswad, in the last week or so. A team from Katraj wild animal orphanage inspected the area after we informed them."

MJ Sanas, range forest officer, Pune, said, "Leopards generally move through the forest land in Dive ghat section, which is its natural habitat. Bhekar (barking deer), sambar deer, wild boar and other wild animals are found there in large numbers. The leopard has been frequenting the area to drink water from the Mastani lake."
