Lt Gen Jatinder Singh appointed new Commandant of NDA

Lt Gen Jatinder Singh, a specialist in mechanised operations and counter insurgency, will take over as the Commandant of National Defence Academy from Saturday, January 1, 2011. He will take over from Vice Admiral Satish Soni, who has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty to the Chief of the Naval Staff.

PUNE: Lt Gen Jatinder Singh, a specialist in mechanised operations and counter insurgency, will take over as the Commandant of National Defence Academy from Saturday, January 1, 2011. He will take over from Vice Admiral Satish Soni, who has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty to the Chief of the Naval Staff.
Singh is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy 42nd Course, Juliet' Sqn, and was commissioned into the prestigious 1 Guards ( 2 Punjab) regiment of the Indian Army on June 13, 1973.

He is a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and Higher Command Course (Air) at College of Air Warfare, Secunderabad.
He is also the recipient of the Sena Medal and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal for rendering exceptional service. He was the Director General of the Rashtriya Rifles prior to his present assignment.
