PUNE: Janwani
of the Mahratta
Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA
) will soon come out with its traffic status report'' (TSR
) for Pune
city. Earlier in March this year, Janwani had published a model report to explain the TSR concept. Janwani on Thursday said that after thorough research and analysis of various aspects of traffic, the report is nearing completion.
In this project, marks are awarded to various parameters of transportation after collecting the statistics. But the objective of this report is not just giving the statistics or marks. It is to create a bench-mark of the traffic system of our city'', Janwani said.
The modal share of Pune's transportation has been measured as part of this report. Approximately 3,600 Pune citizens have been surveyed for this. The objective of traffic management is to make available a safe facility to go from one place to another, which can be used by all.
This 'all' includes young and aged, rich and poor, able and disabled, men and women. Does it happen that from these the needs of rich, able, adults and men are expressed more vocally than the others? Do the managers and planners notice the needs of the remaining others? Do all of us take efforts to bring them to their notice?''. All these questions will be addressed in the report, Janwani said.
