A 40-year-old social activist lodged a complaint with the Chandannagar police on Monday accusing a 47-year-old professional of abusing and inappropriately touching her following a dispute in their housing society. The fight allegedly originated over the latter not allowing children to play on the ground of the society around 7:30pm on January 8. The activist said "the man restrains minor girls from playing on the ground but allows boys to play. I got a phone call from my daughter and went over to tell him there is no such rule but he abused me charged at me and touched me inappropriately." The society chairman said "the man has a grudge against the activist as she helped his wife in a domestic violence case in the past."
