police on Thursday arrested two under trial prisoners in connection with the July 6 attack on jailer Mohan Patil.
Both the inmates — arrested as conspirators — face trial under MCOCA Act. Another conspirator was arrested on July 31.
The police identified the two inmates as Mahesh Dongre (30) and Karan Kanade (25).
“We secured a production warrant in relation to Dongre and Kanade from a court and secured their custody for a formal arrest. A magistrate ordered their remand in police custody till August 5,” senior inspector Rajkumar Waghchavre said.
Patil had escaped unhurt after a bullet fired by two scooter-borne men missed the target. In subsequent probe, the police had arrested four men, including the assailant and the man riding the scooter.
