Ineligible Ladki Bahin beneficiaries to lose payout as e-KYC deadline looms
Pune: Officials have warned that beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin scheme who fail to complete their e-KYC may lose their monthly payments, as many women continue to face difficulties with the process.State govt has set April 30 as the final deadline for completing e-KYC and correcting errors, after granting several extensions in recent months. The verification drive was intensified following the detection of irregularities, with officials noting that a significant number of beneficiaries have already been flagged or removed for non-compliance.Under the scheme, eligible women receive Rs 1,500 per month. Authorities have made it clear that payments will be stopped for those who remain unverified."Beneficiaries who do not complete e-KYC by the deadline will be treated as ineligible, and payments will be discontinued," a senior official said.Another official said any funds disbursed to ineligible beneficiaries would be recovered in accordance with govt rules. "Final figures will be released by the department after the deadline passes," the official said. However, beneficiaries across various districts stated that the process has been far from smooth. Many have reported technical glitches, authentication failures, and long queues at facilitation centres."I tried twice to complete my e-KYC, but my Aadhaar details were not getting registered. They told me to return, but the deadline is very close," said a beneficiary from Pune district.Another woman highlighted recurring Aadhaar-related issues. "My Aadhaar is linked, but I either don't receive the OTP or the system shows errors. We don't know whom to approach for help," she said.Several beneficiaries also complained about inadequate guidance at centres. "There is a huge rush and very few staff to assist us. We wait in line for hours, but sometimes the server goes down, and we have to leave without completing the process," another woman said.Access remains a challenge in rural areas as well. "The nearest centre is far from our village. We have to spend both time and money to travel, and even then, there's no guarantee the work will be completed in one visit," said a beneficiary.Officials acknowledged the operational challenges but insisted that adequate arrangements were being made. "We have deployed additional staff at the WCD. Efforts are underway to resolve technical issues. Beneficiaries should not wait until the last moment," an official said.Authorities reiterated that the e-KYC exercise is intended to ensure that only eligible beneficiaries receive the benefits. With the deadline approaching, they have urged women to complete the process as soon as possible, warning that no further extensions are likely and pending cases may be treated as ineligible after April 30.
