Pune: The Indian Council of Agricultural Research-National Research Centre for Grapes (ICAR-NRC Grapes) has developed a grape seed oil with unique health benefits, derived from the indigenous grape variety ‘Manjari Medika’.
The technology behind the grape seed oil was recently recognized as one of the top five entries in the Horticulture Division of ICAR, New Delhi.
Dr Kaushik Banerjee, the lead developer and director of ICAR-NRC Grapes, said with about 1,500mg/kg of vitamin E and significant amounts of beneficial fatty acids, the oil has numerous health benefits. “In-depth research by us has revealed its efficacy in treating hepatic inflammation-related disorders in animals,” he said. tnn
