Manmeet Ahluwalia, marketing head, Expedia in India, told TOI that while the trend of travelling during festive break has been popular, tour companies have also seen people embracing cross-culture festivals in order to travel and explore destinations. “Amidst this, we have witnessed high airfares, especially on routes connecting Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. However, Pune travellers are in no mood to put their travel plans on hold. People are taking leave on Friday or Monday to travel to various destinations,” he said.

Karan Anand, head, relationships, Cox & Kings, said, “Those who booked for Holi did it much in advance. Our booking pattern indicates that most of them had booked their flights at least a month in advance as Holi also coincides with a long weekend.” He said that those travelling exclusively to witness the Holi celebrations are choosing Lucknow, Delhi and Mumbai, among others to catch a glimpse of the unique Holi festivities in these cities.

Neelu Singh, chief executive officer and director, Ezeego1, said, “Many are heading to short distance destinations like Alibaug, Lonavla, Mahabaleshwar, Murud, Kamshet, Kudal etc.”
