The colonial history of Pune Camp came alive on the foggy Sunday morning on the East Street and adjoining lanes in the area, as Dr Supriya Shelar and Kshitija Pande unfolded the stories from the past during the Christmas Special Heritage Walk organized on December 22, 2024.

The heritage walk organized by Ayan Heritage Walks, received a great response from the attendees as they were eager to know the rich history of one of the iconic neighbourhoods in the city. While explaining the stories from the past, Dr Surpriya also showed them the vintage photos of these places to help attendees visualize the past in the most effective way.

The walk began at 8 am in the morning from the iconic food outlet, Kayani Bakery, to further move towards Victory Theatre and enter in beautiful lanes carrying legacy from the past. The walk guided attendees through historical landmarks on the street while showing them the architectural marvels of the buildings and churches in the area.

“Ayan Heritage Walks had conducted a Christmas Special Walk on Sunday to uncover the vibrant culture and diversity of Pune Camp. The walk was about exploring how history, culture, architecture and heritage blend seamlessly with the festive spirit of Christmas in Pune Cantonment area.,” said Dr Supriya Shelar, Co-Founder of Ayan Heritage Walks.

Guides - Supriya and Kshitija - narrated stories of transformation of the Camp area from British Rule till today. The attendees were captivated to know the unique blend of history, architecture and cultural diversity of the Camp. The event was well-received for its interactive and engaging format.
