PUNE: A sudden spell of heavy rain lashed Pune city on Tuesday afternoon, lasting for just over an hour from 12.20 pm to 1.30 pm.
Several parts of the city experienced intense downpour during this period, even as rainfall over the last 24 hours till Tuesday morning had shown a decline.
Between 8.30 am on Monday and 8.30 pm on Tuesday, rainfall across the district was recorded as follows: Daund (10 mm), Chinchwad (6.5 mm), Nimgiri (6.5 mm), Rajgurunagar (6 mm), Shivajinagar (4.7 mm), Haveli (4 mm), Lavale (4 mm), Hadapsar (3.5 mm), Dudulgaon (2.5 mm), Talegaon (2.5 mm), Baramati (2.4 mm), Malin (1 mm), Girivan (1 mm), Dapodi (0.5 mm) and Pashan (0.2 mm).
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow nowcast warning at 1 pm on Tuesday, valid for three hours, forecasting light to moderate rainfall with the possibility of thunder, lightning and gusty winds over Nashik, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Nanded and Dharashiv districts.
A yellow alert was also sounded for Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune and Kolhapur, cautioning of light to moderate spells of rain.
Authorities have urged residents in these districts to take precautions and remain alert to sudden weather changes.
