MUMBAI: A vacation bench of the Bombay High Court on Wednesday directed the authorities not to arrest till May 28 former chairman of the Amravati People’s Co-operative Bank Vasant Saurkar and 14 other ex-directors in the Rs 9.5-crore government securities scam.
Vacation judge P.S. Bramhe asked all the 15 ex-directors — chairman Vasant Saurkar, Ishwar Lal Ghom, Rajender Soni, Ghanshyam Mudgal, Ajay Gandhe, Chandulal Kela, Dinkar Sane, Mukund Shandilya, Bhojraj Gupta, Sadashivrao Maskre, Rangrao Kale, Dyneshwar Malode, Jayant Chede, Jayashree Patil and Maya Ambulkar — to report to the concerned investigating police officer every day between 9.00 am and 11.00 am and not to leave Amravati.
The ex-directors had moved an application before the bench, seeking an anticipatory bail.
Earlier, their anticipatory bail plea was rejected by Amravati’s additional district sessions judge D.S. Jamkhedkar.
