PUNE: Hariharan, Mukul Shivputra, Rahul Deshpande and Louis Banks are some of the artists who will feature in the 'Vasantotsav' this year which will be held from January 21 to January 23.
The three-day music fest is organised by the Vasantrao Deshpande Pratishthan every year in the memory of legendry Hindustani classical vocalist Vasantrao Deshpande.
The event will be held at the New English School Ramanbaug ground every day between 5.30 pm and 10 pm. This is the fifth consecutive year of 'Vasantotsav' which was initially scheduled in the month of November 2010, but had to be rescheduled due to unseasonal rains.
Rahul Deshpande, a well-known Hindustani classical singer and the grandson of Late Vasantrao Deshpande, said, "We are happy to continue with the tradition of presenting different types of music created by veterans, on one platform."
On January 21, Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhat will perform with his 'Mohan Veena' followed by a presentation by a Rajasthani folk troupe and Hariharan to conclude the day.
On day 2, versatile Marathi singer Swapnil Bandodkar will perform followed by musical renditions by Rahul Deshpande and Pandit Mukul Shivputra (son of the legendary Kumar Gandharva). On the final day, i.e. on January 23, jazz musician-keyboardist Louis Banks will perform followed by a presentation by the Matrix troupe and then a musical rendition by sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan.
Season tickets are available at the Balgandharva Rangmandir, Yashwantrao Chavan auditorium, Tilak Smarak Mandir, Navdikar Musicals on Tilak Road and Kothrud among other places.
