<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">PUNE: Fifteen government employees including two officers from the social welfare department and 13 from state treasury office have been charge-sheeted for withdrawing Rs 75.02 lakh from the treasury by submitting bogus bills. The government filed the charge sheet in the special court of S M Shembole on Wednesday.<br /><br />According to information given by the government, the transactions took place on the basis of bogus bills during March 1982 to December 1986.<br /><br />Vijay Raje, resident of Yerawada, cashier in the department of social welfare and special officer Mahadev Tayappa Sonawane Mohol, Solapur, with the help from another employee, submitted bogus bills and documents in the treasury office.
They withdrew Rs 75.02 lakh from the treasury on the basis of these bills.<br /><br />As many as 13 officers and employees in the treasury office who were supposed to check and scrutinise the bills did not verify the bills and documents submitted, and sanctioned the amount. These employees included Bhaskar Joshi, Prakash Pandit, Shankar Jambhle, Bhau Kamble, Ruben Barase, Sudha Sohoni, Sangeeta Sonarikar, Prakash Deshpande, Mohan Hajare, Usha Bale, Dyandeo Dhumal, Subhada Punde and Bashir Tamboli.<br /><br />The treasury employees have been charged for abatement and violation of treasury rules 153 to 159, while sanctioning the bills. They have been charge-sheeted under sections 409, 420, 467, 472, 477A, section 34 of the Indian Penal Code and section 13 (1)(d) read with section 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act.<br /><br />The two officials from the social welfare department have been charged with making forged entries to give false sanction orders to grant and scholarships worth Rs 57.50 lakh and Rs 17.51 lakh and then encashed the same. They have also been charged with intent to defraud, destroy or alter certain documents to sanction the funds and forged bills.
