Free food, foot massages, health check ups and treatment for Warkaris
PUNE: Maharashtra Rickshaw Panchayat Pune city in association with Arogya Sena will participate in a campaign for social awareness during the palkhi processions in the city.
Members of these groups will be distributing free biscuits and medical help for the Warkaris (a pilgrim sect). They will also provide a free auto rickshaw service for the devotees participating in the processions.
"A cultural programme on Abhang and Bhakti Geet will also be organised for all to come and join," said Shafiq Patel, Pune City president, Maharashtra Rickshaw Panchayat.
Maharashtra Rickshaw Panchayat will also be collaborating with Kshatkari Janata Aghadi for the 'Me Samatcheta Warkari, Seva Hich Majhi Pandhari' initiative where they will be providing 18 different services for the warkaris in the Pimpri-Chinchwad areas.
These services include free distribution of slippers, rations, fruits, vegetables, medicines, repair of shoes, mobile charging station and so on at Nigdi on June 21, 4 pm onwards.
A team of doctors will provide free health check-ups and care for disabled, ill and senior warkaris, and hair cut and feet massage services will also be provided at Kharadi on June 22, 6 am onwards.
