Speaking to reporters in the city on Sunday, Javadekar charged that deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar was equally responsible for the attack. “Even during past meetings with the local people and farmers, Pawar had threatened the farmers of using police force to crackdown all agitations against the pipeline. He has proved it with this attack on farmers.”Terming the state government as “anti-farmer,” Javadekar alleged that the state government has tried to crush down all peaceful agitations. “Let it be the agitations in Jalna or Nagpur, wherever peaceful agitations took place, the police have used power to refrain the people from protests. The action of the government is to stop people from taking anti-government stand at any cost,” he said.Javadekar demanded that a CBI inquiry should be conducted into the incident. The inquiry should be monitored by the High Court, he added. He also demanded that police authorities should stop arresting farmers who were part of the protest.
