FLY91 expands Sindhudurg-Pune flight frequency to five days per week
PUNE: FLY91, a pure play regional airline headquartered in Goa, increased the frequency of its Sindhudurg-Pune-Sindhudurg flights from twice a week to five times a week. This decision follows encouraging footfalls on the route and comes ahead of the upcoming summer vacation.
This expansion underscores the airline’s commitment to enhancing regional connectivity and fostering economic growth through improved accessibility to underserved destinations, airline officials said.
The increased frequency is expected to provide a significant boost to tourism and business travel in Maharashtra and comes ahead of the summer vacation, which witnesses a spike in holiday travel.
Manoj Chacko, managing director and chief executive officer of FLY91, stated, “Strengthening regional connectivity is at the heart of FLY91’s mission. Increasing the frequency of our Sindhudurg-Pune service reflects our commitment to making travel easier and more accessible. We are optimistic that this enhanced schedule will encourage more travellers to explore Sindhudurg while also supporting local businesses. Residents of Sindhudurg will find it easier to access a key city in Maharashtra. Our long-term vision includes daily flights on this route, subject to demand and infrastructure availability.”
“The increase in frequency of FLY91 flights on the Sindhudurg-Pune-Sindhudurg route will provide easy access for local residents to travel to an urban hub of trade, service, and culture like Pune. At the same time, it will help attract more tourists from Pune and nearby areas to an emerging coastal tourism destination like Sindhudurg,” said Captain Jai Singh Sadana, Chief Adviser & Head - Sindhudurg Airport, a domestic airport developed by IRB Infrastructure Developers Limited.
Equipped with modern amenities to handle aircraft ranging up to the A320/B737 family and terminal capacity of handling two million passengers per year, the Chipi airport in south Maharashtra enhances connectivity to the state’s Konkan region and surrounding areas.
FLY91 is committed to expanding its network with a focus on connecting tier 2 and tier 3 cities, ensuring last-mile air connectivity across India. Currently, the airline serves seven destinations: Goa, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Jalgaon, Sindhudurg, and Agatti in the Lakshadweep islands.
With its home base at Manohar International Airport, Mopa, the airline aims to link over 50 cities in the next five years, further strengthening regional air travel.
