PUNE: The mother of the
17-year-old boy who allegedly fatally knocked down two persons with his high-end car has appealed to the police to "protect' her son after a video purportedly featuring him, boasting about how he got away with the accident, went viral.
"The video which is being circulated is not of my son. The video is fake. My son is in the detention centre," says the teen's mother in her message.
Appealing to the police to 'protect' her son, the mother breaks down, shows her video message. She is unable to gather herself and then she walks away from the camera.
A rap song that supposedly showcased the teenager bragging about escaping a car crash gained popularity on social media. However, the Pune police have confirmed that the video was from a fake account and the teenager was not involved.
Later, it was discovered that the rap video belonged to a social media influencer.
A Porsche, which the police claim was driven by minor who was allegedly drunk at the time, fatally hit two software engineers riding motorbikes in the city early on Sunday.
The teenager was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) which granted him bail while asking him to write a 300-word essay.
There was an outcry over quick bail and the police's review plea. The Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) remanded the teen, who is the son of real estate developer Vishal Agarwal, to the observation home until June 5.
The police have arrested the teenager's father in connection with the case.
Pune police on Saturday morning arrested the grandfather of the 17-year-old minor who allegedly fatally knocked down two persons with his Porsche in Pune city for “wrongful confinement” of their family driver, an official said on Saturday.
It was found he, along with kid’s parents, had threatened family driver to give statements taking the blame for the accident.
