PUNE: A desire to innovate and transcend new horizons are the trademarks of genius, and the same applies to scientists and technocrats as well.
Come November and the city will play host to a unique science and technology show, ‘Life sciences and frontiers of new technologies'', where scientists from various institutes will present their work.
The show will focus on research and new technologies in tissue regeneration, gene sequencing, molecules for cure of ovarian cancer and low-cost Ayurvedic treatment for AIDS, among others.

It will be held on November 14 at the Symbiosis institute of management''s Vishwa Bhavan hall on Senapati Bapat road.
The show is being held under the banner of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TIE), a Silicon Valley-based not-forprofit organisation.
TIE''s Pune chapter president, Pratima Kirloskar, told TNN on Friday that the focus was on creating leaders and entrepreneurs in different fields of innovation.
"This year, we will have approximately 10 technologies researched in Pune alone. Some are patented, whereas some others need to be patented," Kirloskar said.

"India has the potential to build a globally-competitive scientific community. However, we still haven''t realised the importance of deadlines and time-lines of scientific research from the point of view of a pharmaceutical company," she said.
This year, the exhibition will also highlight some new drug discovery software, bone grafting, wound healing techniques (using Ayurveda), low-cost enhancement of vision, etc.
With all major research and development institutes — such as the National AIDS Research Institute, National Institute of Virology, National Chemical Laboratory, National Centre of Cell Sciences and the University of Pune — participating, the exhibition is expected to be a runaway success.
